Ms. Holly Rebecca Thornton, 52, of Blackshear, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Waycross, GA on April 27, 1972, she had lived in Pierce County all her life. Holly was a 1990 graduate of Pierce County High School and was a US Army veteran. She worked in security for FLETC in Brunswick prior to becoming disabled. Holly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved going to the beach, sea turtles, and just nature in general. Holly was a happy and caring person who would do anything for someone in need. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leroy & Ruby Dixon, her paternal grandparents, D.L. & Juanita Thornton; aunts and uncles, Dorothy McKinnon, Lucy Dixon, Bud Dixon, and Bobby (Pasty) Dixon; and a cousin, Lindee Dixon.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Savannah & Lee Manning of Blackshear; her parents, Hardy & Dale Dixon Thornton of Blackshear; her brother, Doug Thornton of Statesboro; 2 grandchildren, Marlee Manning and Easton Manning; 3 nephews, Uriah, Noah, and Jackson Thornton; aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Jack) Chandler of Houston, TX, Penny Arblaster of Brunswick, Randall (Sally) Thornton of Roswell, GA, and Morris Thornton of Blackshear; cousins, Jeff (Lisa) Chandler, Tony Chandler, Justin (Kristin) Chandler, Leslie Tootle, Stephanie (Matt) Lott, Robert (Tammy) Dixon, and Teke (Michelle) Dixon; and several other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Holly will be held Wednesday morning, June 19, 2024, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Teke Dixon and Rev. Adam Walker officiating.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
