Mr. Henry Donald Crosby, 96, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross.
Born in Offerman, GA on March 26, 1928, he lived in Pierce County all his life. Mr. Crosby grew up farming but later went to work for the Pierce County Shoe Factory for several years. He would go on to work for CSX Transportation as a painter, retiring in 1993. Mr. Crosby enjoyed fishing and carpentry. In his younger days he raised sheep and border collies. Mr. Crosby was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Barney W. & Martha Jane Gill Crosby. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maudelle Manning Crosby; his son & daughter-in-law, Richard & Diane Batten Crosby; all four of his sisters, Alma King, Thelma Johnson, Agnes Griffin, and Vera Watkins; and all five of his brothers, an infant, Melvin Crosby, Vernon Crosby, Arnold Crosby, and J. T. Crosby.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda M. Crosby of Blackshear; his grandson, Andy (Letha) Jones of Blackshear; three great grandchildren, Emily Jones, Suzie Jones, and Ethan Jones; two great great grandchildren, Henry “Hank” Jones, and Juanita “Nita” Russell; a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Fraley of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Crosby will be held Monday afternoon, May 27, 2024, at 3:00 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Harris officiating.
Interment will be in the New Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
