Mr. Gordon Willis “Big Willie” “Pop” Nessmith, 79 of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, January 7, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Atlanta, GA on September 3, 1942, he had lived in Gainesville, Florida for many years before moving to Blackshear in 1999. Mr. Nessmith was retired from North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville where he had been a Lab Technician Supervisor. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed listening to Gospel music and cooking. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
He was the son of the late Gordon & Naomi Willis Nessmith.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Freeman Nessmith of Blackshear; two step-daughters, Amy (Joe) Aviles of Summerville, SC and Melanie (Ron) Kevr of East Charleston, SC; two step-sons, Dan (Jennifer) Strickland of Blackshear and David (Robin) Strickland of Jacksonville, FL; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mr. Nessmith will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 2 pm from the Blackshear Cemetery.
