Gerald Howard Paul "JR" Peters

Mr. Gerald Howard Paul “JR” Peters, 59, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2023, at his residence. 

Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on April 26, 1963, he had lived in Illinois and Ocala, Florida for several years prior to moving to Pierce County six years ago.  Mr. Peters had worked in management for Pizza Hut in Florida.  While in Illinois he had been a volunteer firefighter and worked in auto repair as well as working in his family’s bar.  Mr. Peters was always a happy-go-lucky outgoing guy.  He loved to go bowling, to watch NASCAR (he was a Dale/Dale, Jr. fan), and was a Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.  Country life suited him just fine and he was content here in southeast Georgia.   

He was a son of the late Gerald Bernard Peters.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Lynn Peters.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Felkins Peters of Ocala, FL; two daughters, Nikki Dacorte of Littleton, CO and Kelly Peters (Phil Moeller) of Crete, IL; his son, J. P. (Amy) Peters of Cedar Lake, IN; his partner and caregiver, Shawna Wilkie (her son, Isaac Wilkie) of Patterson; 9 grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, Anthony, Kyle, Camron, Brantley, Somyiai, Riley, and Jordan; and several other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Peters will be held Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2023, at 3 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
