Mrs. Frances Powers Miller, 73 of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon, February 22, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Born in Blackshear, GA on September 28, 1947, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. Mrs. Miller was a retired school bus driver for the Pierce County Board of Education (her last bus was #52) and was a former courthouse bailiff with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. Over the years she had also worked with her husband, retired PC Deputy Ralph Miller, when transporting female inmates. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and was their former pianist – a job she did for many years. She was a devoted grammy to her grandchildren and her great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellon Ardis & Estellel Griffin Powers. She was also preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Sheila Miller and Jamie Singleton; both of her brothers, J. L. Powers and Johnny Ray Powers; and several half-sisters and half-brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Ralph Miller of Blackshear; her daughter, Deborah Brooks of Jacksonville; five sons, Timmy R. Brooks of Blackshear, David E. Brooks of Blackshear, Keith (Donna) Miller of Waycross, Chuck (Shannon) Miller of Blackshear, and Wade Miller of Blackshear; her sister, Malinda Childs of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren, Jaxon David Brooks, Chase Miller, Amber Brown, Kyler (Matt) Miller, and Claire Miller; her great granddaughter, Lacy Elizabeth Brown; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mrs. Miller will be held Friday morning, February 26, 2021, at 11:00 o’clock from the St. Johns Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Miller will be held Thursday evening, February 25, 2021, at 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
