Mrs. Eula Dell “Tootsie” Dixon Pearson, 83, of Pierce County, passed away Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear, GA on August 17, 1939, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. Mrs. Pearson was a graduate of Blackshear High School where she had played basketball as well sang in the Glee Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard tending to her flowers. Mrs. Pearson loved to cook for her family and friends especially on holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late James Franklin & Sallie Roberson Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Pearson, Jr.; a son, James Leroy “Jimmy” Pearson, Jr.; all three of her sisters, Ilean Baxter, Winlen Walker, and Deasy Mattox; and three of her brothers, Darthell Dixon, Ronnie Dixon, and Bronzal Dixon.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Mattox Carter, husband Duley, of Uvalda; her son, Steven Pearson, wife Michelene, of Blackshear; her brother, Edward “Shorty” (Bea) Dixon of Thomasville; 6 grandchildren, J.P. Pearson, Lindsay (Matt) Davis, Lee (Steven) Dusterdieck, Bethany Pearson (J.T. Conrad), Wesley (Earnestine) Mattox, and Jesse Pearson (fiancé, Karsyn Rowell); 6 great grandchildren, Olivia Grace Dusterdieck, Olivia Kole Davis, Sterling Dusterdieck, Layken Davis, Jeffrey Pearson, and James Pearson; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearson will be held Friday morning, February 24, 2023, at 11 o’clock from the Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Tuttle officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Active pallbearers will be Steven Dusterdieck, Jesse Pearson, Joey Walker, Michael Walker, Wesley Mattox, and Chase Peacock.
