Mr. Ernest Steven Johnson, 48, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Waycross, GA on February 10, 1977, he lived in North Carolina prior to moving back to Pierce County in 1993. Steven was a Pierce County High School graduate and worked in construction with Tommy Howell for several years before going to work for Hendrix Construction and Concrete. He loved to fish, do yardwork, and working out. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Austin Clay Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Julian & Carolyn Johnson Tuten; and his paternal grandparents, Emory Johnson and Ethel Colley Saunders.
Survivors include his daughter, Gabie Johnson of Blackshear; his son, Ashton Johnson (Grace Anderson) of Jesup; his granddaughter, Wrenley Grace Johnson; his parents, Ernest & Virginia Tuten Johnson of Blackshear; his sister, Rebecca (Robby) Boatright of Blackshear; his niece, Maddie Johnson; his nephews, Garrett Cason, Weston (Alexis) Cason, and Brayden Cason; his great nephews, Jaxon and Tate Cason; his close friends, Chad Henderson of Blackshear, Jamie Boyett of Patterson, and Rick Larson of Blackshear; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Steven will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2025, at 4:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David White officiating.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family kindly requests that Steven’s former classmates serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the funeral home chapel by 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.
