Elliott Payton Harn, Jr.

Mr. Elliott Payton Harn, Jr., 84 of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, June 26, 2020, at Harborview – Pierce County.

Born in Savannah, GA on June 11, 1936, he had lived in Cocoa, FL for many years before moving to Pierce County in 1972.  Mr. Harn was a 1955 graduate of Lanier Senior High School in Macon, GA where he had been in the ROTC program.  Following his high school graduation he enlisted in the US Marine Corp where he served for four years.  When it was time to reenlist Mr. Harn decided he was tired of walking so he chose to enlist in the US Navy where he went on to serve for eight years.  Once his military time was over with he went to work for Southern Bell (later Bell South and now AT & T).  He would go on to retire in 1998 as a cable repairman but had also worked in other capacities over the years. He had enjoyed woodworking as well as building and repairing furniture.  Mr. Harn was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he had taught the Men’s Sunday school class.  He was a longtime member of the Masons and had served in numerous areas over the years.  At the time of his passing was a member of the Blackshear Masonic Lodge - #270.      

He was a son of the late Elliott Payton & Gertrude Lucille Martin Harn, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Cook Harn; and his second wife, Betty Manning Peacock Harn.

Survivors include his four daughters, Elizabeth & Buddy Guy of Blackshear, Esther Morris of Florida, and Cindy (Rick) Jones and Linda (Scott) Moyer all of Blackshear; three sisters, Vivian (Wayne) Taylor of Blackshear, Viola DuPree of Beaufort, SC, and Jeannette DeVito of Orange City, FL; a brother, Stanley Harn of Savannah; a half-brother, Wayman Bacon of Milton, FL; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Harn will be held Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2020, at 3:30 from the Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Visitation for Mr. Harn will be held at the church from 2 until 3:30 on Sunday afternoon.
