Mr. Edward Ralph “Eddie” Wheeler, Sr., 67 of Waycross, passed away Sunday evening, May 22, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 21, 1954, he had lived in Waycross since the late 80’s. Mr. Wheeler was retired from the US Army and was the owner/operator of Wheeler Roofing and Insulation. He loved fishing, telling jokes, and pulling pranks, and was an avid Florida Gator fan. He was a member of Journey at Faith Christian Fellowship Church.
He was a son of the late Edward Dean & Bonnie Jane Heisler Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Alan Wheeler.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Misty & Kenny Jordan of Hoboken and Dixie & Michael Carrin of Blackshear; his son, Eddie Wheeler, Jr. (Connie Brooks) of Blackshear; two sisters, Barbra (Stephen) Varnadore and Debbie Carter all of Waycross; two brothers, Jim (Marilyn) Wheeler of Port Clinton, OH and Craig (Helen) Wheeler of Ludowici; the mother of his children, Sherry Wheeler of Hoboken; 12 grandchildren, Rodger Goddard, Jr., Austin (Samantha) Jordan, Matthew Lucas, Shelby Jordan, Brandon (Sarah) Franklin, Jarrett (Breanna) Franklin, Cameron Franklin, Coy (Chiquita) Carrin, Pierce Carrin, Abbie Wheeler, Dremix Wheeler, Ayden Wheeler; 7 great grandchildren, Bryson Franklin, Harper Franklin, Brooke Franklin, Kaine Franklin, Kensley Franklin, Ava Johns, and Teagan York; special niece, Stephanie “Tottles” Varnadore of Waycross; and several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Wheeler will be held Thursday morning, May 26, 2022, at 11:00 o’clock from Journey at Faith Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Keith Hughes and Freddie Hickox officiating.
Interment will be in the Hoboken City Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Wheeler will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
The family kindly requests all previous and present employees as well as associates of Wheeler Roofing and Insulation serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the church by 10:30 Thursday morning.
