Dennis Warren Strickland

Mr. Dennis Warren Strickland, 73 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, September 8, 2020, at his residence. 

Born in Miami, FL on August 24, 1947, he had lived in Sebring, FL for many years prior to moving to Pierce County in 2000.  Mr. Strickland had worked for Bud’s Body Shop for many years while in Florida.  Riding motorcycles, hunting, and deep sea fishing had been some of his favorite things to do before his health began to fail.  You could usually find him tinkering around the house on his good days and during the fall, if he was feeling like it, he enjoyed going to turkey shoots.  He was a member of Haywood Baptist Church and loved going to church when he was able.  Mr. Strickland dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He was a son of the late Henry “Buddy” Strickland and Nancy Beverly Strickland.  He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Linda Allen Strickland; by a daughter, Wanda Melissa Craven; a grandchild, Jonathan Swain; and by his brother, Jerry Strickland. 

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Westberry of Blackshear; four sons, Dennis W. Strickland, Jr. of Placida, FL, Victor J. Strickland (Claire Nussbaum) of Sarasota, FL, and T. J. Westberry and Patrick (Alaina) Westberry all of Waycross; three daughters, Tonya Westberry of Blackshear, Kellie (James) Steedley of Waycross, and Sherry Westberry of Baxley; 19 grandchildren, Samantha (Dustin) Holland, Shannon Strickland, Tyler (Katherine) Strickland, Xavier Strickland, Avriana Strickland, Lee Emory Strickland, Bryan McQuaig, Chase McQuaig, Niki Briola, Ty Hall, Shane Sweat, Leah Hersey, Tommy “Jake” Westberry, III, Maryann Westberry, Abby Westberry, Jordan Westberry, Rosie Westberry, Samuel Westberry, and Skylit Westberry; 5 great grandchildren, Sienna Strickland, Connor Holland, Draigan McQuaig, Aurora McQuaig, and Annalyne James; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Funeral services for Mr. Strickland will be held Saturday morning, September 12, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel. 

Visitation for Mr. Strickland will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. 

Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
