Dennis Ray Roberson

Mr. Dennis Ray Roberson, 75 of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning, February 25, 2021 at Memorial Satilla Health.

Born in Mershon, GA on May 1, 1945, he had lived in Blackshear most of his life.  Mr. Roberson was a Patterson High School graduate and retired from CSX Transportation where he had been a Carman for over 40 years.  He had also worked part-time for Pearson-Dial Funeral Home for several years before his health began to decline.  Mr. Roberson was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Over the years, he had enjoyed being with his family at Hickory Bluff where fishing, boating, and making memories were always in abundance.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all.

Mr. Roberson was a son of the late Dennis & Monteen Bennett Roberson.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Roberson.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gloria Dixon Roberson of Blackshear; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam & David Hickox of Blackshear; his son and daughter-in-law, Rob & Jennifer Roberson of Folkston; his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne & Cheryl Roberson of Blackshear; 7 grandchildren, Andrew (Kaitlyn) Johnson, Eliza Hickox, Sara Dasher, Payne Roberson, Bennett Roberson, Emma Rae Roberson, and Kolbie Roberson; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  

Funeral services for Mr. Roberson will be held Monday morning, March 1, 2021, at 11:00 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Roberson will be held Sunday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing guidelines as well as the use of facemasks are encouraged.  Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
