Mrs. Debra Sue Boyd Bowen, 63 of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning, July 24, 2020, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Nashville, GA on July 10, 1957, she had lived in Waycross prior to moving to Pierce County in 1979. Mrs. Bowen had been a shift manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken for several years and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, babysitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a daughter of the late Chester & Myra Pruitt Boyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Wayne Bowen; and by a sister, Glenda Harnage.
Survivors include two daughters, Brandy (Stevie) Altman and April Bowen (Cleve Moore) all of Blackshear; three sons, Kenneth (Shannon) Sweat of Millwood and Michael (Regina) Bowen and Josh Bowen all of Blackshear; a sister, Martha Musgrove of Millwood; a brother, Gene (Lynn) Boyd of Waycross; 12 grandchildren, Seth Altman, Sara Altman, Daniel Lee King, Dovontae Johnson, Sanco Johnson, Amber Sweat, Cody Sweat, Austin King, Trinity King Sweat, Zeth Bowen, Cody Bowen, and Presley Alderman Bowen; 2 great grandchildren, C. J. Sweat and Raven Sweat; special friends, Antonio Johnson of Savannah, Desiree McCaw of Lakeland, FL, Janice Gay and Lisa Nipper both of Blackshear, and Kenneth Crum of Brunswick; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen will be held Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
