Mr. David Michael Watson, 68, of Blackshear, passed away late Friday evening, January 5, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear, GA on March 3, 1955, he lived in Arkansas for a few years before returning to Pierce County in 1985. Mr. Watson was a US Air Force veteran. He worked as a truck driver for United Egg prior to becoming their maintenance supervisor, which he did until his retirement in 2021. Mr. Watson loved to watch crime shows as well as listen to podcasts about the same subject. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing but had been an avid collector of coins, guns, and knives most of his life. Mr. Watson also loved all things Snoopy related and a good, cold Mountain Dew. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was the son of the late Frank Watson and Evelyn Luke Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Anna Watson; and a sister, Melba Aldridge.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Barbara Fember Watson of Blackshear; his son, Michael (Michele) Watson of Blackshear; four daughters, Sarah (Steven) Wimberly of Blackshear, Brandy Beckham of Seattle, WA, Sandy Beckham of Blackshear, and Dixie Allemani of Pensacola, FL; his sister, Lawanna Arowood of Blackshear; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his beloved pet dog, Lucy Bell; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, January 8, 2024, from 6 until 8 o’clock.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
