Daniel Thomas Obituary

Mr. Daniel Thomas, 83 of Patterson, passed away Friday afternoon, July 17, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Patterson, GA on November 4, 1936, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life.  Mr. Thomas was the owner/operator of Thomas Logging, Inc.  He had also farmed and raised cows some over the years.  Mr. Thomas had been a hard-working, easy going man all of his life.  He loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith, loved all babies and children, and loved animals.  Mr. Thomas never missed an opportunity to speak to someone and shake their hand and his biggest goal in life was just to help people.         

He was a son of the late Willie Henry & Julia Henderson Thomas.  He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Caleb Horne and James Horne; a sister, Ethel Guest; and five brothers, David Thomas, William Thomas, Buddy Thomas, John Thomas, & Billy Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Doris Johnson Thomas of Patterson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin & Joe Stanfield of Viera, FL, and Beth & Robert Chancey and Danielle & Dale Douberly all of Patterson; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny & Delean Thomas of Patterson; four sisters, Janie Aspinwall of Blythe Island, and Laura Walker, Lillian Taylor, and Susie (Sam) Cason (who Sam was like a son) all of Patterson; a brother, Pete Thomas of Waycross; a sister-in-law, Betty Roberson of Offerman; a special brother-in-law, Cecil (Cheryl) Johnson of Offerman; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a special niece, Paula Collins of Vidalia; Lewis Jenkins of Patterson (who was also like a son); several other nieces and nephews; special friends, Nick Koulianos, Daniel Washington (late wife, Betty), Dr. Don Waters, Dwayne Chancey, Ralph & Nadean Lairsey, Isabelle Hunter, Tammy Cummings, John James and Rodney James; and several other relatives and friends.

A private graveside service for Mr. Thomas will be held Monday, July 20, 2020, from the Offerman Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation for Mr. Thomas at the funeral home.  The family instead invites people to ride by the residence at 6634 Claude Road, Patterson, and honk their horn or greet the family from their vehicles.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health Care as well as Hospice Satilla for the excellent care they provided to Mr. Thomas over the past several months.
