Cynthia "Cindy" Bunton Obituary

Mrs. Cynthia Jane “Cindy” Brogdon Bunton, 62 of Alma, passed away Sunday morning, June 5, 2022, at her residence.

Born in Brunswick, GA on January 18, 1960, she had lived in Bacon County since 2003.  Cindy (as she wanted to be called due to the fact that she hated the name Cynthia) was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  She had been ill for many years with various ailments.  She was last diagnosed with cancer and had been under the care of Hospice Satilla for over a year.  Before she had gotten very ill, she and her husband, Roy, would jump in the car and take off for parts unknown.  They would travel the state of Georgia and the surrounding states, also.  They loved to ride and sight-see different towns trying not to go to the same place twice.

Cindy loved to read romance novels, play games on her smart phone, and color pictures in the adult coloring books.  She said it was relaxing.

She loved her family and friends dearly and would do anything she could for anyone who asked.  She always had such a kind-hearted, free spirit about her.  She also loved to bicker with Roy. He would ask her to make him a cup of coffee and she would tell him he should get up and fix it himself (as she’s pouring it and bringing it to him)!

Cindy absolutely loved the color purple.  She wanted everything she could get to be purple.  Her dream life would have been to live in a purple house, drive a purple car, wear purple clothes, and have purple hair and nails.  Now she has her purple mansion in Heaven.

She was a daughter of the late L.J. & Annie Mae Roberson Brogdon. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Phillips, Sr.; three sisters-in-law, Karen June Zipperer Bunton, Mary Bunton Chancey, and Margie Faye Chancey; Brother-in-law, Audie Chancey; daughter-in-law, Tracy Phillips; nephews, Jason Chancey, Randy Zipperer, and David Winchester; a close cousin, Johnny McCray; and her beloved pets, Maggie and Missy.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Roy Truman Bunton of Alma; two sons, Johnny Paul Phillips, Jr. (Lisa Brown) and Patrick Shane Phillips all of Brunswick; a daughter, Virginia Bunton of Alma; two sisters, Wanda Chilson and Kathy Cox both of Brunswick; two brothers, JR Brogdon of Brunswick and Wayne Brogdon of Albany; a sister-in-law, Marthy (Joe) Chancey of Jesup; brother-in-law, Coye Bunton of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Pervis, Brandon Keith Phillips, Katlyn Dawn Phillips, Patrick Keith Phillips, and Christian Scott Phillips; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives; her pets, Diesel and Bubba; and special friends of Hospice Satilla, Michael Moore and Darlin Suftko.
