Connie Maria Tyre

Ms. Connie Maria Tyre, 73, of Waycross, passed away Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025, at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah.

Born in Baxley, GA on January 30, 1952, she lived in Pierce and Ware Counties most of her life.  Connie was a Blackshear High School graduate and later worked as a waitress for Huddle House prior to becoming a caregiver, a job which she loved.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

She was a daughter of the late Isham Tyre.  She was also preceded in death by her grandparents that raised her, Tom & Nora Walker Thomas; by a grandson, Dalton Mulkey; and by three sisters, Joyce E. “Rachel” Green, Nora Staines, and Cindy Rodriguez.

Survivors include her children, Rachael & Bryce Whiddon of Gibson and Chad Mulkey of Waycross; 4 grandchildren, Dylan (Katie) Mulkey, Patience (Chris) Pelly, Cassie (Luke) Davis, and Mia Roberts; 2 great grandchildren, Tripp Mulkey and Kole Mulkey, and a third, Eliza, due in October; three sisters, Taressa (Harry) Lairsey of Brunswick, Erica Martin of Blackshear, and Betty Simpson of Logansport, IN; a brother, Richard (Mary) Riddle of Patterson; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Connie will be held Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2025, at 4 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor R. B. Gaskins officiating.

Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
