Clem Sapp Obituary

Mr. Clem Dexter Sapp, 67, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Blackshear, Ga on December 24, 1956, he lived in Holly Hill, FL prior to returning to Pierce County twenty years ago.  Dexter was a 1975 graduate of Patterson High School where he had excelled in sports, especially football, and was a member of the undefeated 1973 PHS football team.  He had worked for Insituform Technologies in Jacksonville for over twenty-five years prior to working for Southeast Pipe as well as other underground pipeline companies.  Dexter loved all sports including football, softball, & NASCAR, where he was a Bill Elliott fan.  He also enjoyed anything outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. 

He was a son of the late Parnell & Betty Lou Dixon Sapp.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Faye Watkins; a sister-in-law, Susie Sapp; and a brother-in-law, Eddie Teston.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Sapp of Patterson; his son, Little Dexter Sapp (Leann Sauls) of Blackshear; his step-daughter, Ambi (Wally) Bess of Waycross; six sisters, Wanda (Shelton) Rigdon of Bristol, Carol (Donnie) Watkins of Mershon, and Bonnie (Bud) Thornton, Anita Teston, May (Ray) Douberly, and JoAnna (Timmy) White all of Patterson; three brothers, Larry Sapp of Patterson, Bobby (Margaret) Sapp of Richmond Hill, and W.T. (Susan) Sapp of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Katy Rose Contreras, Lucas Sapp, Jorah Maddex Sapp, Amiyah Bess, and Rylan Bess; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Dexter will be held Friday afternoon, June 21, 2024, at 4:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derwin Griffin officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.

The family kindly requests members of the 1973 Patterson High School Football team to serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the funeral home by 3:30 on Friday and feel free to wear your Patterson Eagles jersey or t-shirt.
