Mr. Clarence Burney Johnson, Jr., 85 of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning, March 15, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Quinlan, Texas on January 22, 1936, he had lived in Pierce County since 1980.  He was drafted into the US Army and went on to serve 3 years.  Following his military service, he went to work for Seaboard Coastline Railroad in Texas. The railroad moved him to Florida and Georgia during his career.  Mr. Johnson enjoyed old cars and doing mechanic work.  He loved spending time with his family, fishing when he was able, singing, dancing, watching Westerns, and online shopping.  He was of the Baptist faith.     

He was the son of the late Clarence Burney & Eula Vera Griffith Johnson, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Dean Alan Johnson; and two sisters, Mary Jo Selgrath and Joyce Odum. 

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Blocker Johnson of Blackshear; three daughters, Valerie (Jon) Shaddox of Cypress, TX, and Theresa (Tony) Taylor and Elizabeth Johnson all of Blackshear; two sons, David (Tracie) Johnson of Blackshear and Steven (Andrea) Johnson of Alma; two sisters, Mildred (Nolan) Estes and Jean James all of Dallas, TX; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Thursday morning, March 18, 2021, at 11:00 from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing guidelines as well as the use of facemasks are strongly encouraged.
