Clara Kimbrell Obituary

Mrs. Clara Pauline Banks Kimbrell, 91 of Waycross, passed away Monday afternoon, September 21, 2020, at Baptist Village Nursing Home.

Born in Blackshear, GA on January 7, 1929, she had lived in Pierce and Ware Counties all of her life.  Mrs. Kimbrell had been a line worker for the former Spatola Shoe Factory until they closed then went to work at First Baptist Church in Waycross where she cooked at their Wednesday night suppers.  She had also babysat all of her grandbabies – as well as other children – over the years.  Mrs. Kimbrell enjoyed reading and crocheting and loved to cook – she was an excellent one!  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a daughter of the late Marvin Clinton & Sylvia Gertrude “Gertie” Batten Banks.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Donald Stewart Kimbrell; a son, Donnie Kimbrell; both of her sisters, Christine Britt and Latrell Lewis; and a brother, Thomas Banks.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Dub) Ashton of St. Marys and Cheri (Will) Trogdon of Waycross; two sons, Brown Kimbrell and Bronze (Wendy) Kimbrell all of Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Leslie Kimbrell of Tampa, FL; a brother, Wilton (Evelyn) Banks of Blackshear; 9 grandchildren, Steve (Brenda) Wood, Matt Kimbrell, Sarah (Eric) Ruiz, Josh (Suzannah) Trogdon, Libby Trogdon, Chance Kimbrell, Duncan Kimbrell, Tess Lucas, and HollyAnn (Michael) Goldman; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Graveside services for Mrs. Kimbrell will be held Friday afternoon, September 25, 2020, at 3:00 pm at the Blackshear City Cemetery.
