Clara Kimbrell Obituary

Mrs. Clara Ruth Crawford Kimbrell, 89 of Mershon, passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

Born in Patterson, GA on February 23, 1930, Mrs. Kimbrell had lived in Pierce County all of her life.  She was 1946 graduate of Patterson High School where she had served on the annual staff for the school’s first edition of their yearbook.  Mrs. Kimbrell was a homemaker, tree farmer, and bookkeeper but anyone that knew her knows she was so much more.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and worked hard her whole life even until as recent as a month ago.  Mrs. Kimbrell was an excellent cook and was known for her many dishes with her fig preserves being high on the list.  She also enjoyed gardening as well as flower arranging.  She was a longtime member of Mershon Baptist Church where she had served in many capacities over the years especially by teaching Sunday school for which she was recently recognized for 62 years of perfect attendance.  In 1999 Mrs. Kimbrell made it a point to let people know that if they were struggling with something all they needed was the faith of a mustard seed and to remind them of this she would give them a mustard seed encased in a piece of amber.

She was a daughter of the late Jessie Irvin & Elsie Lorene Harris Crawford.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oswell “R.O.” Kimbrell; and by a brother, Paul Crawford.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Mobley of Mershon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob & Linda Kimbrell of Mershon, Rev. Steve & Regis Kimbrell of Reidsville, and Dr. Casey & Angie Kimbrell of Mershon; a sister, Naomi (Morris) Henderson of Waycross; three brothers, Hubert Crawford and Robert (Karen) Crawford both of Blackshear and Wayne (Teressa) Crawford of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Paula (Jimmy) Gray, Cretia Rowell, Anitra (Jamey) Jones, Karissa (Christopher) Todd, Alyson (Will) Repko, Jessica (Thomas) Payne, Dr. Casey (Lisa) Kimbrell, Jr., Christopher Kimbrell (Ellen McCuiston), MariClaire Kimbrell, and C.J. Bland; 8 great grandchildren, Irvin Gray, Taylor Hale, Dock Allen, Gavin Jones, Elah Young, Matthew Todd, Madison Todd, and Harrison Repko; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
