Clara Mae (Dixon) Chancey

Mrs. Clara Mae Dixon Chancey, 94 of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning, May 24, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.
 
Born in Offerman, GA on March 27, 1927, she had lived in Pierce County all her life.  Mrs. Chancey was a homemaker and at the time of her passing was the oldest member of Offerman Baptist Church for which she had served in various capacities until her health declined.  She deeply loved her Lord, her church family, and especially her pastor, Bro. James Lightsey.  In addition to being a member of Offerman Baptist, she had served as Worthy Matron of the Easter Star at the Screven Lodge and was a member at Ben-Gibbs Chapter in Jesup.  Mrs. Chancey will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt.  She will also be remembered for her beautiful yards. 
 
She was a daughter of the late Rev. Elmer Eugene & Ivy Lee Ratliff Dixon.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Riley Chancey; her son, Terry Chancey; her son-in-law, Billy Riddle; and several brothers and sisters.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Riddle of K-ville and Brenda (Eddie) Whitted of Blackshear; a brother, Larry Dixon of Maccleny, FL; 3 grandchildren, Ret. Lt. Col. Bill (Suzan) Riddle of Woodlands, TX, Barry (Jamie) Riddle of K-ville, and Jade (Jennifer) Chancey of Oakland, CA; 8 great grandchildren, Christopher Riddle, Kimberly Riddle, Destiny Chancey, Michael (Sarah) Chancey, Dusty Riddle, Clara Chancey, Adaline Chancey, and Garrett Chancey; 1 great, great grandchild, Miss Mattelyn Alyssa, due to make her arrival in August; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Chancey will be held Friday afternoon, May 28, 2021, at 12:00 o’clock from Offerman Baptist Church.
 
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
 
Visitation for Mrs.  Chancey will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Offerman Baptist Church, 7225 US Highway 84, Offerman, GA  31557, Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA  31501, or to a charity of one’s choosing.
