Mr. Charlton Eugene Melton, 71 of Waycross, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at Landmark Hospital in Savannah.
Born in Alma, GA on April 6, 1950, he had lived in Ware County most of his life. Mr. Melton was retired from Wells Cargo where he had been a painter. He loved being outside whether it was working in his yard, riding dirt roads, fishing, or cooking out. Mr. Melton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was a son of the late Albert & Martha Elizabeth Groover Melton. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Albert Melton and Robert Melton.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Farmer Melton of Waycross; two daughters and a son-in-law, Charlotte & Mike Weeks of Fernandina Beach and Angela Melton of Waycross; a son, David Melton of Waycross; five sisters, Linda Sue Spradley of Patterson and Marlene Sullivan, Annette Walker, Debbie Lee, and Mildred Moore all of Blackshear; two brothers, Rudolph (Martha) Melton of Waycross and Stevie Melton of Blackshear; 4 grandchildren, Mitchell Melton, Aaron Greene (Amber Daniels), Alise Greene, and Lenni Nees (Trey); 7 great grandchildren, Anna Melton, Harley Melton, Kolby Mendoza, Casey Jorgensen, Kade Jorgensen, Cadance Maine, and Trinity Daniels; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mr. Melton will be held Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 2021, at 4:00 o’clock at the Thomas Cemetery on Miles Still Road in Ware County.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 at the cemetery.
