Mr. Charlie Lonnie Strickland, 68, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Born in Blackshear, GA on July 12, 1955, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. Mr. Strickland worked as a motorcycle mechanic at 5 Points in Blackshear in the 70’s prior to going to work as a boilermaker. He went on to retire in 2010 from Alloy Cladding in Jupiter, FL. Mr. Strickland loved to go fishing and enjoyed having fish fries for family and friends. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, farming, and watching westerns. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late James A. & Josephine Houston Strickland. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Smith; a grandson, Zachary Smith; and two brothers, Foye Strickland and Noah Strickland.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Diane Sims Strickland of Blackshear; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly & Joe Herndon of Blackshear; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin & Angela Guy Strickland of Blackshear, Obediah & Lizzie Strickland of Blackshear; and Wesley Britton of Patterson; his sister and brother-in-law, Martha Gail & Lee Scurry of Blackshear; his brother and sister-in-law, Jaurez & Vonice Strickland of Patterson; a sister-in-law, Earline Strickland of Blackshear; 7 grandchildren, Hailey Merritt (Randy), Jacob (Meagan) Selph, Pierce Naas, Ozzy Strickland, Thomas Guy, Kyle Smith, and Connor Britton; 2 great grandchildren, Kimberlyn Merritt and Khalleigh Merritt; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Strickland will be held Saturday morning, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
