Mr. Charles Walter Revels, 86 of Mershon, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health.
Born in Mershon, GA on July 24, 1933, he had lived in Mershon all of his life. Mr. Revels was a US Army veteran where he was stationed in Okinawa. He was a retired farmer but had also worked with the Tobacco Market Warehouse for many years. Mr. Revels enjoyed doing arts and crafts and had been very active in art shows for 24 years. He loved to do woodwork, especially children’s toys, and had even invented a fisherman decoration (novelty item). Mr. Revels had served as one of the original volunteer fireman with the Mershon Fire Department and was an active member of the Mershon Methodist Church where he would lead the singing.
He was the son of the late Charles Bradford & Willie Mae Tyre Revels.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patricia “Pat” Davis Revels of Mershon; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Ashley Bennett of Blackshear; two sons, Jimmy Revels & Glenn Smith and Andy Revels all of Mershon; 4 grandchildren, Jordan (Rachel) Bennett, Josh (Ronni) Bennett, Paige Bennett (fiancé, Chance Tiner), and Walter Revels; 6 great grandchildren, Nathan Bennett, Brinley Bennett, Levi Oglesby, Ridge Bennett, Gunner Bennett, and Granger Bennett; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Revels will be held Friday afternoon, March 13, 2020, at 3:00 o’clock from the Mershon Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the Mershon Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Revels will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.
