Mr. Billy Dewayne Britt, 53 of Homerville (formerly of Blackshear), passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Clinch Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hollywood, FL on February 26, 1968, he had lived in Pierce and Clinch Counties most of his life. Billy was a 1986 graduate of Pierce County High School and went on to serve in the US Air Force for 3 years. He was a former correctional officer at Valdosta State Prison, had worked at Brockway in Homerville for several years, as well as with Simmons in Waycross, West Fraser in Blackshear and most recently in the lumber business in Homerville. Billy liked to fish, ride his motorcycle, and spend time with his son and his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Bill Britt. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Tina Louise Britt Hood.
Survivors include his two sons, Christian (Britt) & Ashley Fortescue and Thomas (Britt) Fortescue and Samantha Prater all of Live Oak; his mother, Patricia Ann Batten Britt of Waycross; three sisters, Tammy (Phillip) Massey of Athens, Terri Murphy of Hartselle, AL, and Lisa (David) Dobbs of Blackshear; his granddaugahter, Abigail Fortescue; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will have a memorial service on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 3:30 at the Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
