Mrs. Beverly Norma Longoria Jones, 76, of Alma, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
Born in San Diego, CA on May 2, 1947, she lived in Plant City, FL for several years before moving to Pierce then Bacon County. Mrs. Jones was a cosmetologist by trade by had also worked for The Heritage Bank in Blackshear for a couple of years. She had spent the past several years as a homemaker. Mrs. Jones was an excellent cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Yvonne Davis Sunday school class. Over the years, Mrs. Jones had sang in the adult choir as well as taught the Ladies Sunday school class. Mrs. Jones loved the Lord and never missed an opportunity to help people find the Lord.
She was a daughter of the late Ruben D. Longoria and Belia Gamboa Ramsey. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerry Duarte and David Ramsey.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, James E. “Jim” Jones, Jr. of Alma; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Tim Wallace of Blackshear; her son, James E. “Jamey” Jones, III of Blackshear; her step-mother, Leanor Longoria of Edinburg, TX; four sisters, Yolanda “Yolie” (Ramiro) Perez of Mission, TX, Suzie (Al) Longoria of Edinburg, TX, Olga Longoria of Chula Vista, CA, and Sheryl Lynn (Steve) Rabideau of San Diego, CA; a brother, Ruben (Camile) Longoria, Jr. of Austin, TX; 3 grandchildren, Alexis (Toxey) Tuten, Addison Wallace, and Gavin Jones; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2024, at 3 o’clock from the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Stone officiating.
The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
