Ms. Betty Elaine Pearson Carter, 79 of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 15, 2020, at her residence.
Born in Umatilla, FL on April 28, 1940, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. Ms. Carter was retired from Wal-Mart where she had been the Fabric Department manager. She enjoyed crocheting and had made numerous blankets for church members as well as residents of Harborview Pierce County. She also enjoyed cooking and being with her church family at Living River Church of God.
She was a daughter of the late Henry Coy & Arizona Luke Pearson. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Quantessa Wilson; and two sisters, Margaret Eason and Cathryn Robbins.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Jarrell and Lori Ann Taylor both of Blackshear; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy Coy & Donna White of Douglas; two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Giddens of Jacksonville (who had also been one of her caregivers) and Judy Bennett of Blackshear; a brother, Danny Pearson of Blackshear; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Carla Meeks, Carolyn Sheppard, and Toy Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private graveside service for Mrs. Carter on Friday, April 17, 2020.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
