Mrs. Bertie Mae Johnson Dixon, 81, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, December 24, 2022, at Harborview – Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Patterson, GA on December 5, 1941, she had lived in Pierce County for the last 45 years. Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker who was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to cook, bake, and sew and always looked forward to her family gathering together every week. Mrs. Dixon also loved spending time with her husband and love of her life, Travis, as well as doing things with her sisters. She was a member of Smyrna Fellowship Church.
She was a daughter of the late George & Bertha Mae Manning Johnson. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kristopher Sean Dixon; and a sister, Nancy Brantley.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Pastor James Travis Dixon of Blackshear; her daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina & Earl Cox of Blackshear; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Greg & Jody Dixon , Tim Dixon, Tony & Michele Dixon, and Kevin Dixon all of Blackshear; five sisters, Marion Dixon of Barberville, FL, and Carolyn Anderson, Jonette (Winton) Taylor, Shirley (Phil) Douglas, and Barbara (Ted) Clark all of Blackshear; two brothers, Terry (Cheryl) Johnson and Eddie (Joann) Courson all of Blackshear; 11 grandchildren, Shane English, Crystal Marie (Matt) Smith, James Tracy (Amber) Dixon, Ben English, Toni Danielle (Danny) Godwin, Brandon Dixon (Cambrie), Brittani (Seth) Crosby, Austin Perritt, D. J. Dixon, Khristian Emmons, and Zach (Jasmin) Cox; 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service for Mrs. Dixon will be held Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022, at 11 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Visitation for Mrs. Dixon will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
