Mrs. April Glenise Watkins Hernandez, 56, of Mershon, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at her residence.

Born in Alma, GA on December 1, 1967, she had lived in Pierce County all her life.  April was a 1985 graduate of Pierce County High School.  She had worked for Country Boys in Bristol for several years as well as worked for the Pierce County Nursing Home prior to going to work at Stewart Candy where she worked in inventory.  April loved being with her family more than anything, but she also enjoyed going to The Cheesecake Factory and watching movies of all kinds.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Faye Sapp Watkins.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Angel Hernandez of Mershon; two daughters, Elyssa (Jacob) Woodard of Waycross and Emily Hernandez (Jorge Perez) of Blackshear; two sons, Jerry Tyler Watkins and Jonah Hernandez both of Mershon; her father, Jerry C. Watkins of Mershon; her sister, Christel Watkins (Mark Johnson) of Mershon; her brother, Jeremy “Peewee” (Sherry) Watkins of Offerman; 7 grandchildren, Elijah Tyler Watkins, Anna Jade Watkins, Brayden Sweat, Bailey Gail Bryant, Bentlee Kayde Johnson, Ella Mae Woodard, and Sophie June Woodard; two “granddogs”, Stella and Demi; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for April will be held Monday afternoon, June 17, 2024, at 4:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R. C. James officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Bristol Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jaden Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Kacee Johnson, Jorge Perez, Caleb Watkins, Eli Watkins, Chris Carnes, and Luke Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Beau Johnson, Adaline Faye Watkins, Levi Mason Carnes, Bentlee Kayde Johnson, and Brody Johnson.

In honor of April's love of color, the family kindly requests guests in attendance for her service refrain from wearing the color black.
