Anne (Crosby) Bennett

Mrs. Anne Crosby Bennett, 89, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023, at the Bacon County Hospital. 

Born in Birmingham, AL on August 19, 1933, she had lived in Pierce County since the early 60’s.  Mrs. Bennett was retired from the State of Georgia Prison System having been the librarian at Ware State Prison. She loved to read, to talk with people and get to know about them, and was always so good at sending cards or notes to people for all occasions.  She was a member of the Blackshear Presbyterian Church.      

She was the daughter of the late Jesse Levi & Hazel Atchison Crosby, Sr.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leon Bennett; a son, Len Parrish; and her brother, Jesse L. Crosby, Jr.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck & Sandra Parrish of Blackshear, Tommy & Brenda Parrish of Clinton, SC, and Pat & Shannon Bennett of Blackshear; 7 grandchildren, Brian Parrish, Stacie Anne (Steve) Waters, Lindsay (Scott) Smith, Judson Drew Parrish, Nathan (Candace) Parrish, Carson Payne Bennett, and Patrick Charles “Patch” Bennett; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bennett will be held Friday afternoon, April 14, 2023, at 4 o’clock from the Blackshear Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends at the church from 3:30 until 4.

Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
