Ann Powers Obituary

Mrs. Ann Crews Powers, 72 of Blackshear, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at her residence.
 
Born in Folkston, GA on December 7, 1948, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life.  Mrs. Powers had worked for Gaston Photo for a few years before going to work for Gibson Animal Clinic where she groomed pets.  She would go on to groom pets from her home for a number of years prior to being a co-owner of Sunshine Grocery in Blackshear.  Mrs. Powers was a huge animal lover and was best known for her passion for her horses.  Over the years she had participated in numerous horse shows and rodeos all over the country and had won many awards for showing horses and barrel racing.  She was a member of the AQHA, the APHA, the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, and Coastal Plaines. Mrs. Powers was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church.  
 
She was the daughter of the late Hugh Dorsey & Doris Nazworth Crews.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Virgil Powers; and her brother, James Dorsey Crews.
  
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy & Dan Banach of Crestview, FL; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony Powers of Millwood and Bob & Cynthia Powers of Independence, TX; a sister-in-law, Colleen Crews of Folkston; 6 grandchildren, Justin (Paige) Powers, Jordan Powers, Drew (Jacey) Banach, Dalton Banach, Kayce (Cody) Warden, and Kristi Cox; 7 great grandchildren, Lainey Powers, Blair Warden, Sterling Warden, Whitney Bradley, Caraline Bradley, Jayce Banach, and Collins Banach and one more on the way; a niece, Cher Best of Folkston; a special friend and co-owner of Sunshine Grocery, Jim Howard of Blackshear; and several other relatives and friends.  
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5 until 7 pm.
 
Memorialization will be by cremation.
