Mr. William Robert Riddle, 72 of Screven, passed away Monday evening, July 22, 2019 at the Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL following a sudden illness.
Born in Jesup, GA on March 5, 1947, he had lived in Townsend, GA for several years before moving to Screven 5 years ago. He attended Patterson High School and was retired from Interstate Paper in Riceboro. Mr. Riddle enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Westerns, riding his golf cart, and horse racing. He was a piddler – always doing something or working on something – and loved getting a good deal no matter what it was on. Mr. Riddle was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Robert Newton Riddle and Louise Hewitt Thornton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Riddle.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Glenda Chancey Riddle of Screven; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Robert “Bill” & Suzan Riddle, Jr. of Universal City (San Antonio), TX and Barry Scott & Jamie Riddle of Screven; two sisters, Sherry & Doys O’Steen of Patterson and Sheila Hires of Nahunta; three brothers, Calvin (Terri) Riddle of Trenton, GA, and John (Connie) Riddle and Jerry (Catherine) Riddle all of Jesup; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Riddle, Kimberly Riddle, and Dusty Riddle; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Riddle will be held Friday afternoon, July 26, 2019, at 3:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Riddle will be held at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
