Ricky Lane Walker

Mr. Ricky Lane Walker, 71 of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 15, 2019, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
 
Born in Savannah, GA on April 9, 1948, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life.  Mr. Walker was a 1967 graduate of Blackshear High School and went on to serve his country by joining the US Air Force.  He would go on to retire from CSX Transportation where he had been a Carman.  Mr. Walker enjoyed fishing and gardening and was always joking around with everyone.  He was a member of Offerman Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father, and papa and he will certainly be missed by them all.

He was a son of the late Herman Colquitt & Mary Fosteen Mincey Walker.  He was also preceded in death by both of his sisters, one of which passed away as an infant, and Ginger Vickers.
   
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kaye Plymel Walker of Blackshear; two daughters, Angel Jones and Lynn (Terry) Preston all of Blackshear; three brothers, Michael (Deborah) Walker of St. Simons, Andy (Delores) Walker of St. Cloud, FL, and Craig Walker of Patterson; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly (Shawn) Godwin, Jessica (Jeramiah) Hester, Amber Boatright, Jonathan Jones, and Taylor (Walker) White; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
       
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held Thursday morning, December 19, 2019, at 11 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
 
The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
 
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
 
The family kindly requests all of Mr. Walker’s retired co-workers from CSX to serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the funeral home by 10:30 Thursday morning.
