Mildred Scallorn Byrd Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Ann Riales Scallorn Byrd, 84 of Blackshear, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 10, 2019, at the
Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
 
Born in Como, MS on January 2, 1935, she had lived in Sardis, MS for several years before moving to Pierce County 16 years ago.   Mrs. Byrd had been a military wife for many years but had also been a homemaker for most of her adult life.  She loved the outdoors – camping, hunting, and fishing – and also loved to travel.  Mrs. Byrd was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Sardis, MS and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
 
She was the daughter of the late Harris & Lurline Chance Riales.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Scallorn; her second husband, Kenneth Byrd; her daughter, Katherine Ann Lea; and both of her brothers, Wayne Riales and Gerald Riales.
 
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Cammie Scallorn of Mershon; two step-sons, Jerry (Lisa) Byrd of Mims, FL and Danny Byrd of Mershon; a son-in-law, Kim Lea of Sherman, TX; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Hill of Batesville, MS and Donna Riales of Hernando, MS; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her very dear friend, Jaunette Sauls of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
  
Memorialization will be by cremation.
