Mr. Loomis Jerome Cason, 80, passed away Thursday evening, February 7, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his daughter's residence in Blackshear, GA. Mr. Cason was a lifelong resident of Pierce County and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Blackshear. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he proudly served in the United States Air Force. As a former member of Rehobeth Baptist Church Mr. Cason was a deacon there for over 40 years. In 1963 He was named Farmer of the Year for Pierce County. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was a son of the late Lonnie James & Mary Ann Margaret 'Maggie' Waters Cason. Mr. Cason was also preceded in death by his first wife, Vernita Davis Cason; four sisters, Pauline Cason, Ernestine Holland, Genevieve Clough, Lucille Couch; his three brothers, Tracy Cason, Gene Cason, and Arthur Cason. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Davis Cason of Mershon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon & Curt Peacock of Blackshear, Sylvia & Jerry Griffin of Belews Creek, NC; his sister, Willie Mae Woodall of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Lauren & William Bennett, Erica Miller, Chrisie & Nate Mooneyhan; four great-grandchildren, Rainee Miller, Reed Bennett, Berran Bennett , Bryton Bennett; and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Rehobeth Cemetery.
