Mr. Joseph Thomas J.T. OBerry, 74 of Blackshear, passed away late Tuesday evening (March 30, 2010) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Townsend, Georgia, Mr. OBerry had lived in Pierce County for most of his life and was self-employed as a mechanic & farmer. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and gardening.
Mr. OBerry was a son of the late Jasper & Mary Hendrix OBerry and was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Melton OBerry; his grandmother who raised him, Ardeli Hendrix Hickox; and a great grandchild, Blake Strickland.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Manry (husband Samuel) of Havana, Fla., Deborah Hayes (husband Bill) of Valdosta, Jane Strickland (husband Carl) of Blackshear; a son, Buddy OBerry of Nahunta; seven grandchildren, Billy Hayes, Christina Scarbrough, Felica Nix, Amanda Lovell, Carlos Strickland, Joseph OBerry, Kimberly Wood; twelve great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

Graveside services for Mr. OBerry will be held 2:00 oclock Thursday afternoon (April 1, 2010) at the Hoboken City Cemetery.
