Mr. John Randle Cason, 89, of Offerman, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2009, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a carpenter and farmer all of his life. Mr. Cason was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a son of the late John Manuel & Mary Arelia Clark Cason. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Boyette Cason; his second wife, Evelyn Barnes Cason; three sons, Raymond Cecil Cason, Joe Barnes and Jamie Barnes, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include six daughters & four sons-in-law, Sandra Davis of Hortense, Linda Brinkley of Jesup, Peggy & Melvin Dover of Screven, Margaret & Clint Bargeron of Blackshear, Gloria & Terry Rapier of Maryville, TN and Anita & Joe Gardner of Jesup; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Marlene Cason of Patterson, John H. & Margie Cason of Blackshear and Rusty & Gail Barnes and Bill & Tina Barnes all of Jesup; two daughters-in-law, Mary Alice Westberry Cason of Patterson and Karen Clark Barnes of Jesup; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Miller of Jacksonville and Berti Mae & Nicky Miller of Callahan; a brother, Lewis Cason of Patterson; 39 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery.
Visitation:
Visitation for Mr. Cason will be held Friday evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Service:
Funeral services for Mr. Cason will be held Saturday morning, October 3, 2009, at 11:00 from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Cason will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
