Mr. Harry Dean O’Steen, 85 of Townsend, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020, at his residence.
Born in Blackshear, GA on August 16, 1934, he had lived in McIntosh County for the past 40 years. Mr. O’Steen was a Sgt. in the US Air Force. He was a retired contractor and was also a former sheriff’s deputy in Lumpkin County. He loved gardening, fishing and crabbing, watching tv, and making people laugh. He was a member of the Eulonia Church of God of Prophecy and dearly loved his church and church family. Mr. O’Steen was a one in a million man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was a son of the late Hendry Joshua & Sarah Evelyn Harris O’Steen.
Survivors include three daughters, Lupe O’Steen of Jacksonville, FL, Luz O’Steen of Townsend, and Kanda (Byron) Ellis of Tifton; three sons, Manuel O’Steen of Townsend, Dawayne (Brandi) King of Blackshear, and Patrick King of Columbia, TN; a sister, Gwen Lairsey of Waycross; two brothers, Homer (Diane) O’Steen of Townsend and Tommy (Gail) O’Steen of Hoboken; 6 grandchildren plus one on the way, Hunter (Ivy) Lane, Kassi (Kyle) Bowen, Ethan King, Trey Dollar, Brandon Strickland, and Taylor Ellis; three great grandchildren plus one on the way; his best friend, Maria O’Steen of Townsend; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. O’Steen will be held Thursday morning, January 9, 2019, at 11 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. O’steen will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
