Name: Joseph Kenneth Dates: Birth date: July 18, 1937 Death date: July 25, 2010 Obituary: Hortense, Georgia Mr. Joseph Kenneth “Rabbit” Dixon, 73 of Hortense, passed away early Sunday morning (July 25, 2010) at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Offerman, Mr. Dixon had lived in Jacksonville before moving to Hortense four years ago. He was a brick mason and a son of the late Rev. Elmer & Ivy Lee Ratliff Dixon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Losco Dixon; four brothers, three sisters; and a granddaughter, Jessica Marie Dixon Steedman. Survivors include a son, Darrell Dixon (wife Regan) of Hortense; four daughters, Debra McCarthy, Donna Sue Johns, Kelley Steedman (husband Deland) all of Hortense and Sharon Kilby (husband Demes Jr.) of Mooresboro, S.C.; a brother, Larry Dixon of Blackshear; two sisters, Clara Mae Chancey of Blackshear and Talma Lee Johnson of Patterson; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice – 1109 Fountain Lake Drive – Brunswick, Georgia 31525 Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock Tuesday evening (July 27, 2010) at the funeral home. Service: Funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be held 11:00 o’clock Wednesday morning (July 28, 2010) from the chapel of Pearson-Dial Funeral Home. Cemetery: Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery. |
