Name: Pollie Strickland Tirrell Dates: Birth date: December 27, 1930 Death date: June 28, 2010 Obituary: Ms. Pollie Strickland Tirrell, 79 of Waycross, passed away late Monday afternoon (June 28, 2010) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
Born on December 27, 1930 in Blackshear, GA, she had lived in Ware County for the past 31 years. Ms. Tirrell was a homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Patterson High School and liked to crochet and do other crafts and loved to garden. Ms. Tirrell also loved to collect angles, enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan. She was a daughter of the late William Henry & Ella Crawford Strickland and was also preceded in death by a son, Pat Tirrell; three sisters, Ollie Kirkland, Dollie Mobley and Delphine Strickland; and a grandchild, Shawn Michael Tirrell, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Terry Tirrell of Waycross; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frankie Tirrell of Blackwell, NJ and Shawn & Cathy Tirrell of Spring Hill, FL; two sisters, Mollie Knight of Milan, GA and Carlie (Bud) Sloan of St. Marys, GA; five brothers, Charlie Strickland of Austell, GA, Harlie (Sonja) Strickland and Farlie (Doris) Strickland all of St. Marys, Tollie (Sue) Strickland of Fernandina Beach, FL and Archie (Mary Ann) Strickland of Eastman; two grandchildren, Nathan Tirrell and Anne Tirrell and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004. Visitation: Visitation for Ms. Tirrell will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home.
Service: Funeral services for Ms. Tirrell will be held Thursday morning, July 1, 2010, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel. Cemetery: Memorialization will be by cremation. |
