Name: Alene Howard Dixon Dates: Birth date: April 08, 1919 Death date: March 01, 2010 Obituary: Mrs. Alene Howard Dixon, 90, passed away Monday evening, March 1, 2010, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Dixon was the matriarch of her family and was very devoted to them. She was a daughter of the late John A. & Iona Crawford Howard and was also preceded in death by four brothers, Reppard Howard, Elmo Howard, Jasper Howard & Bobby Howard.
Survivors are her husband, Johnny L. Dixon of Blackshear; a daughter, Amanda Dixon Stone, husband William, of Rincon; a grandchild, Dr. John William Stone, wife Stephanie, of Nashville, TN; six sisters, Eula Jackson of Blackshear, Vonice Corthell, husband Dick of St. Simons, Johnnie Youmans, husband Bronze, of Patterson, Rebecca Harrison of Swainsboro, Nora Kelly of Thomasville and Sue Page of Hoboken; a brother, Zane Howard, wife Linda, of Blackshear and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 217 W. Carter Ave., Blackshear, GA 31516 or to Hospice Satilla, 317 Plant Ave., Waycross, GA 31501. Visitation: The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Service: A memorial service for Mrs. Dixon will be held Thursday morning, March 4, 2010, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel. Cemetery: Memorialization is by cremation. |
