Obituary:

Mr. Lonnie Deloach “L.D.” Pearson, 80, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

 

Born in Ware County on March 6, 1929, Mr. Pearson had lived in Pierce County all of his life.  He retired from Southern Bell (Bell South) as a repairman after 32 years of service and was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Pearson was active with the Hacklebarney Volunteer Fire Department and also with the Telephone Pioneers.  He was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Mr. Pearson was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Sand Hill Hunting Club.  He was a son of the late Lonnie Devoe & Essie Douglas Pearson.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Wood Pearson, who passed away in September 2009; his daughter, Linda Diane Tuten; and his sister, Mary Louise Todd.

 

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold & Amelia Pearson of Blackshear and Bobby & Margaret Pearson of Waycross; a brother and sister-in-law, C.L. & Edmee Pearson of Valdosta; 7 grandchildren, Dena (Steven) Paul, Anna (Harold) Walker, Cory Morgan, Christie (Greg) Aspinwall, Tony Pearson, Kenneth (Lisa) Pearson and Brenda (Randy) Tennison; 11 great grandchildren, Joey Pearson, Kenneth Tennison, Blaine Paul, Layne Aspinwall, Alex Johnson, Tyler Tennison, Chance Pearson, Brandon Tennison, Kimber Pearson, Millie Morgan and Emma Aspinwall and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

 

 

 


Memorials:

Memorial contributions may be made to Hacklebarney Baptist Church, 6501 Hacklebarney Road, Blackshear, GA  31516.



Visitation:

Visitation for Mr. Pearson will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

 



Service:

Funeral services for Mr. Pearson will be held at 11:00 Wednesday morning (March 3, 2010) at Hacklebarney Baptist Church.

Mr. Pearson will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

 



Cemetery:

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
