Obituary:

Mr. Waldo Lotch “Junior” Thornton, Jr., 55 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Born in Ware County on May 31, 1954, Mr. Thornton had lived in Pierce County all of his life.  He had worked for The Potting Shed for many years and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Thornton enjoyed riding his bicycle and was a loving son and brother who will be missed by all.  He was preceded in death by his father, Waldo L. Thornton.

   

Survivors include his mother, Sarah Howell Thornton of Blackshear; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Corkie & Clarence Gooden and Kay Deloach all of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah & Randy Tarpley of Waycross and Beth & Jerry Thompson of DeLeon Springs, FL; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Rickie & Pam Thornton of Thomasville and Brookie Thornton of Jacksonville; five nieces, Kandie (Chad) Bunch, Marlana Thornton, Brook (Diego) Perez, Sara Gooden and Hope Thornton; a nephew, Dylan Hinson; a great niece Mary Jane Perez; 4 great nephews, Christian Moore, Logan Bunch, Taylor Hinson and Bryce Hinson and several other relatives.

       

           

 


Visitation:

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening (January 27, 2010) from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home.

 



Service:

Funeral services for Mr. Thornton will be held at 2:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon (January 28, 2010) at the First Baptist Church in Blackshear.

Mr. Thornton will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.



Cemetery:

Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
