Name: Sharon Gloria Moody Thomas Dates: Birth date: November 22, 1952 Death date: January 11, 2010 Obituary: Ms. Sharon Gloria Moody Thomas, 57, passed away early Monday morning, January 11, 2010, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Atkinson County on November 22, 1952, Ms. Thomas had lived in Pierce County for the last 26 years. She was a caregiver having helped rear many children over the years and was lovingly called Ms. Sharon or Granny. She was a very active member of Living River Church of God where she had been a children’s Sunday school teacher and a leader of the church choir. Ms. Thomas also ran the Clothes Closet at the church and helped with the food pantry. She was a daughter of the late Manning J. & Levina Robinson Moody and was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Strickland, and her brother, Manning J. Moody, Jr. Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristal & Matthew Norris and Sharon “Candy” & Kenneth Sirmons all of Blackshear; two sisters, Delphia Moody of Pearson and Diane Anderson of Blackshear; 8 grandchildren, Wade Aldridge, Jessica Aldridge, Peyton Norris, Kayla Norris, Preston Norris, Amanda Sirmons, Shawna Sirmons & Sherena Sirmons; a great grandchild, Trinity Kiser, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Living River Church of God, PO Box 822, Blackshear, GA 31516. Visitation: Visitation for Ms. Thomas will be held Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3 o’clock at Ms. Thomas’ residence – 5004 Crosby Circle, Blackshear, GA 31516. Service: Funeral services for Ms. Thomas will be held Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2010, at 2:00 o’clock from the Living River Church of God.
Ms. Thomas will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Cemetery: Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery. |
