Name: Vilee Courson Carter Dates: Birth date: November 20, 1934 Death date: January 08, 2010 Obituary: Mrs. Vilee Courson Carter, 75, passed away early Friday morning, January 8, 2010, at the Bacon County Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Pierce County on November 20, 1934, Mrs. Carter had lived in Pierce & Bacon Counties all of her life. She was a housewife and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Dalton & Amanda Durrence Courson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Pearley Carter; a sister, Myrtice Shuman; and two brothers, Claude Courson and Clifford Courson. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Ray & Kathy Carter of Venice, LA; a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie & Gary DePratter of Alma; two sisters, Thelma Lovell of Blackshear and Myrtle Sowell Sapp Yulee, Fl; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Coble of Jacksonville, Fl and Lee Courson, Jewell Carter and Mary Frances Carter all of Alma; 6 grandchildren, Dixie (Chris) Meeks, Dallas Carter McCook, Mike (Adrienne) Scandurro, Aaron (Jason) Edwards, Kevin DePratter and Dustin DePratter; 5 great grandchildren, C. J. Meeks, Drake Meeks, Dakota McCook, Gabrielle Edwards and Arianna Scandurro; a special nephew, Fred (Judy) Carter of Alma; and several other nieces, nephews and relatives. Memorials: Due to Mrs. Carter’s love of children, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Baptist Church Playground Fund, 2909 Highway 203, Alma, GA 31510. Visitation: Visitation for Mrs. Carter will be held Saturday evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Service: Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be held Sunday afternoon, January 10, 2010, at 2:00 o’clock from the shady Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carter will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Cemetery: Interment will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery. |
