Mr. George Franklin “Frank” Phillips, 78 of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning, July 6, 2012, at his residence following a short illness.
Born in Mershon, GA on November 30, 1933, he moved back to Pierce County in the early ‘60’s after being gone for many years. Mr. Phillips was a retired boilermaker with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers – Savannah Local 26 – with 50 years of service. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4583 in Jesup. Mr. Phillips was a member of Faith Fort Green Baptist Church in Wauchula, FL and was an avid horticulturist.
Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Henry B. & Zimmie Lovell Phillips and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Kirkland and Grace Godfrey.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Loper Phillips of Blackshear; a daughter, Dashia P. Fritz of Blackshear; a son, Brian Robbie Phillips of Blackshear; a sister, Beatrice Albritton of Wauchula; 4 grandchildren, Philip Edwin (Tanya) Roberson, Payton James Roberson, Amber Brianna Phillips and Ashley Robin Phillips; 3 great grandchildren, Mason Roberson, Madox Roberson and Maylee Roberson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation for Mr. Phillips will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held Tuesday afternoon, July 10, 2012, at 4:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Martha Memorial Cemetery.
