Obituary:
Mrs. Edith Moody Hunter, 90 of Blackshear, passed away early Thursday morning, July 5, 2012, at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Pierce County on December 19, 1921, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life.  Mrs. Hunter was a housewife but had also worked for King Edward Cigar for four and a half years and also for the Spatola Shoe Factory for several years.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was in Barbara C. Smith’s Sunday school class.
Mrs. Hunter was a daughter of the late Herschel & Addie Tuten Moody.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Herschel Dixon; three sisters, Vera Moody, Betty Moody and Elizabeth Johnson; and all three of her brothers, Gene Moody, John T. Moody and Cleon “Nappy” Moody.
Survivors include her husband, James P. “Jim” Hunter of Blackshear; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Diane Dixon of Waresboro and Betty Jane & Mike Thomas of Spartanburg, SC; a son, Billy Gene Dixon of Blackshear; two sisters, Nora Murphy of Screven and Catherine Moody of Jacksonville, FL; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.  There are several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation:
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Visitation for Mrs. Hunter will be held Saturday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.</span></p>

Service:
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Funeral services for Mrs. Hunter will be held Sunday afternoon, July 8, 2012, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">The family requests that members of the Barbara C. Smith Sunday school class and employees of the Pierce County Nursing Home serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the funeral home by 1:30 Sunday afternoon.</span></p>

Cemetery:
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.</span></p>
