Obituary:

Mrs. Edna Lois Fowler Thornton, 77 of Jesup, passed away Friday morning, June 22, 2012, at her residence following a sudden illness.

 

Born in Blackshear, Ga., on May 12, 1935, she had lived in Jesup since 1968. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Anderson Drive Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram Dawkin and Mable Altman Fowler.

 

Survivors include her husband, Hewshal R. Thornton of Jesup; four sons, Steve Thornton (wife Delores) of Ludowici, Neal Thornton of Jesup, David Thornton (wife Cindy) of Gum Branch,Ga., and Lee Thornton (wife Lala) of Odum; a sister, Margaret Robson of Blackshear; ten grandchildren, Shannon Stafford, Mandy Collett (husband Manuel), Robert Thornton (wife Elizabeth), Chris Mobley (wife Dee), Wendy Dickens (husband Robert), Ashley Henry (husband Mark), Garrett Thornton, Jennifer Spell, Cade Mattox (wife Holly), and Jessie Sapp (husband Arthur); seventeen great grandchildren; a special niece, Patti Cavender of Waycross; and several other nieces, nephews and relatives.

 

 


Visitation:

Visitation will be held 6 until 8 o’clock Saturday evening, June 23, 2012, at the funeral home.

 

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Margaret Robson,3085 Midway Church Road, Blackshear, Georgia 31516.

 

 

Service:

Funeral services for Mrs. Thornton will be held at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, June, 24, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Blackshear.

Cemetery:

Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
