Mr. Jeffery Lewis Chancey, 51 of Jesup, passed away early Friday morning, June 15, 2012, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick following a short illness.
Born in Blackshear, GA on October 5, 1960, he grew up in Pierce County before moving to Wayne County several years ago. Mr. Chancey was a 1978 graduate of Patterson High School. While in high school he excelled at playing the trumpet for which he made first chair, first trumpet out of 13 districts at Epworth during his senior year. A retired truck driver, Mr. Chancey had also worked in real estate and had been a tree farmer. He was a member of Offerman Baptist Church.
Mr. Chancey was a son of the late Jackie Linwood & Vivian Grace Smith Chancey.
Survivors include three brothers and a sister-in-law, Jackson Bruce & Phyllis Chancey of Brunswick, Benjamin Patrick Chancey of Homa, LA and Christopher Linwood Chancey of Jesup; a sister, Vivian L. Thompson of Baxley; and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation for Mr. Chancey will be held from 11:00 am until 11:30 am at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Chancey will be held at 11:30 Monday morning, June 18, 2012, at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
