Mrs. Beatrice Evelyn Cantler Dowling, 92 of Blackshear, passed away late Thursday evening, August 2, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System inWaycross.
Born in Annapolis, Marylandon December 4, 1919, Mrs. Dowling moved to Blackshear in the late 1970’s. She worked many years as a housekeeping supervisor with Howard Johnson Inns, and attended the Home League of the Salvation Army. She was a daughter of the late Frank Merrikn and Elsie Dell Cantler.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cantler was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Langford Dowling; two daughters, Georgia Ellen Dowling Sheridan and Jeanette Marie Dowling Byus Johnson; two sisters, Doris Virginia Lorenzen and Phirne Adele Cockrell.
Survivors include a son, James Doyle Dowling (wife Helen) of Las Vegas,Nev.; a sister, Eutha Ellen Mayo of Spokane, Wash.; a son-in-law, Tom Sheridan of Surfside Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren, Steven Dowling (wife Holly), Robert B. Grove Jr. (wife Joann), Donna G. Malloy (husband Tim), Kimberly Hecker (husband Louis), Michelle Byus; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
The family had private graveside service Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012, at Blackshear City Cemetery.
Memorialization is by cremation.
